Hollywood began making racks in the back of their groovy, family-owned bike shop in Hollywood, California in 1973, and their aim was simple: to make easy-to-use, quality products that come fully assembled. Their first rack, a virtually indestructible trunk-mount named The Original, proved incredibly popular and is still in production today (right).

Hollywood quickly gained a reputation and began selling their racks to big-name bike companies, such as Schwinn, Peugeot and Nishiki. As demand grew, founder Henry Nusbaum closed the bike shop in 1981 and opened a small factory in Los Angeles solely for the production of car racks.

Nusbaum soon found himself exporting racks to Europe, and in the 90's he expanded the line to include racks for hitches, pickups and spare tires. Their newest rack, the Buzz Rack, carries up to two bikes on your car's roof plus a padded, water-resistant gear bag. There are also basic Hollywood products like their Fork Block, which allows you to mount bikes virtually anywhere.
